Dino Planet

Calling all budding Palaeontologists! The museum needs some help in uncovering and identifying an array of dinosaur bones and fossils from our collection. Through the handling of both real and replica bones and fossils students will become confident in naming different dinosaur body parts and explaining how fossils are created. They will leave the museum ready for a dig armed with a selection of their own fossil rubbings and imaginative dinosaur masks.

Session aim:

  • To identify and name different dinosaur parts and fossils and begin to consider the distinction between things that are alive, that are dead, and things that were never alive.

Session objectives:

  • Identify the 3 different types of dinosaurs.
  • Recognise what a fossil is, how fossils are made and where they are found.
  • Identify the names of dinosaur bones and where they are in the body.
