Captain Cook - A Significant Local Individual from the Past

All aboard for an exciting voyage of exploration! A guided tour of the museum and interactive workshop will fully immerse students in the theme of Captain Cook as a significant person in their own locality. Learn about his life story from his humble beginnings in Marton, Middlesbrough, through to his accomplishments on his voyages around the world.

Session aim:

  • To recognise the impact Captain James Cook had on exploration and seafaring in the 18th century.

Session Objectives:

  • Identify differences between 18th century and 21st century life.
  • Name and discuss some of the key places Captain Cook explored.
  • Explore the day-to-day life of a sailor.
