Can We Explore It?

What is an explorer? What do they do? How do they travel and what do they find? A chance to find out more about explorers and for young explorers to do some exploring themselves. This free-flow session will capture the children’s imaginations through a variety of activities from map drawing and bag packing to fancy dress and messy play.

Session aim:

  • To encourage play centring around the idea of being an explorer.

Session objectives:

  • Identify different items an explorer would need on their travels and the types of places they might visit.
  • Retell our own journeys to and from the museum through drawing.
  • Engage with messy play and the creation of different explorer environments and the types of animals that might inhabit them.
